edition of Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.
The research supports U.S. guidelines
that tell children and teenagers to get an hour or more of physical activity
daily, most of it aerobic, also, running, jumping rope, swimming, dancing and
bicycling.
Scientists are finding
evidence that both lifestyle and genes cause obesity and they are just learning
how much diet and exercise can offset the inherited risk.
Parents should also help
their teens by feeding them healthy foods, not condoning the fast food items,
because their life style is rushed and they do not have the time to cook.

grains, legumes and got plenty of exercise. Reducing calories will
